Webinar Replay: Hung Lee x Kristjan Kristjansson — Practical AI for TA & HR

A live session with Hung Lee (Recruiting Brainfood) on where AI adoption gets stuck, four ways TA teams use AI, and the guardrails that matter.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Hung Lee from Recruiting Brainfood for a live session on practical AI adoption in talent acquisition and HR.

We covered a lot of ground — from where AI adoption gets stuck to concrete ways TA teams are using AI today, and the guardrails that make it work responsibly.

What we discussed

1. Where AI adoption gets stuck

Many AI initiatives stall after "chat only." Teams get access to ChatGPT, use it for a few weeks, and then revert to old habits. The gap between using AI as a sidekick and embedding it into workflows is where most organizations lose momentum.

2. Four ways TA teams use AI today

  • Chat-based AI for ad-hoc tasks — drafting job descriptions, summarizing interviews, brainstorming questions.
  • Vertical SaaS products with AI features — tools like 50skills that have AI baked into specific HR workflows.
  • Build your own — enterprise teams creating internal apps and automations.
  • Workflow builders to orchestrate multi-step processes with AI in the loop, without heavy engineering.

3. Guardrails that matter

Policies, compliance requirements, and human-in-the-loop decisions aren't obstacles to AI adoption — they're prerequisites. The organizations moving fastest are the ones who figured out governance first, not last.

4. The workflow builder approach

A visual builder that ingests candidate data (CVs, applications), runs AI analysis, and routes decisions through governed steps. This is the approach we've taken at 50skills — making it possible for HR teams to build AI-powered processes without writing code.

Key takeaway

The organizations getting real value from AI in HR aren't the most technically sophisticated. They're the ones who mapped their processes, picked one to automate, and iterated from there. Start small. Learn fast. Scale what works.
